Urgent help request! I'm invited to a Google Hangout for a Google assignment and I can't get the Google voice and video to work. I'm on a Mac air running 10.9.2. I just reinstalled Chrome and Google hangout but when I go to Google voice and video I get message: GOOGLE VOICE AND VIDEO CAN'T BE INSTALLED ON THIS DISK. 保存できたら、指示に従い、Finderで GoogleVoiceAndVideoSetup.dmg をダブルクリックします。 すると、こんなインストーラが出てきますので、 ダブルクリックしてください。. 1) Could be a cache problem. If it is, a quick search for them (in Spotlight) should show nothing. 2) Try restarting (it may work). 3) If you recently installed google voice and video, then deleting the dmg or package file for the installer and emptying the trash and then ejecting should work.

Some of you may need the plugin. See attachments at the botom of this page to download the plugin.

What is it?

Google Voice helps you manage your communications by giving you more control over your phones and voicemail. With Google Voice, your number will ring all of your other phones at the same time, your voicemails get transcribed and sent to you via text and/or email, and you can create custom voicemail greetings based on who’s calling you.

Why use it?

Students can use Google Voice to:

  • Send free text messages and make free calls from their computers
  • Record notes for themselves as voicemails
  • Use a Google Voice number to submit assignments, such as reflections and foreign language assessments

Teachers can use Google Voice to:

  • Get a brand new number to give out to parents and students so that their existing number stays private
  • Create custom voicemail greetings for each of your contact groups: students, parents, staff, family, and friends
  • Use the voicemail and transcription features to keep a log of when students or parents have called and easily search and organize
  • Set your Google Voice number to go directly to voicemail during designated hours during the day and night
  • Send mass text messages, for free, when you need to make announcements

Administrators can use Google Voice to:

  • Have teachers forward parent voicemails and transcriptions to keep accurate logs
  • After classroom observations, leave up-to-the-minute accounts of feedback that can be transcribed and forwarded

Google Voice in Action
Project: Google Voice in Foreign Language
Grade/Subject: First grade and above

Pronunciation is critical in foreign language learning. Have a parent call your Google Voice number via their phone, and then asked their student to read a sentence in their textbook in the foreign language. The students message will then be recorded and sent to your Gmail and Google Voice inbox, and then able to play it and embed the recordings on your class website, like a Google Site.
Google voice is easy to use because any first grader who can use a phone can use Google Voice. Students can call your Google Voice number each week to read the text in the foreign language. Since they know their audio recordings will be put on the Internet, they usually practice it before dialing the Google Voice number.
